Guests are personally welcomed upon arrival to our Playa del Carmen resort and led through the tropical forest paths to their villa. The palapa-roofed, stucco bohíos, or villas, are decorated with an eye to the sophisticated simplicity of Maya aesthetics, utilizing natural materials throughout: louvered-mahogany doors and windows, sisal rugs, and canopy beds with hand-stitched Egyptian cotton linens. Bath areas are especially spacious with indoor and outdoor showers and his-and-hers sinks and closets.

Accommodation

The 41 private villas feature a completely private patio and plunge pool, outdoor shower, high-ceiling thatched-palapa roof echoing the jungle environment, 500-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets, plush down pillows, and a terrace replete with chaise lounges, hand-carved stone dining table and a handmade crochet hammock. Villa locations range from oceanfront and ocean view to verdant jungle gardens.

Each Playa del Carmen vacation villa at Viceroy features:

  • Bathrooms are spacious and equipped with a standing shower, his-and-hers separate sinks and generous closets

The Spa

Located at the center of our luxury Riviera Maya resort amidst a lush tropical landscape, the spa’s circular configuration echoes the holistic philosophy that guides the Maya Spa experience and inspires our marine and herbal treatments. Highly trained staff helps to restore, rejuvenate and refresh guests through the massages, facials, body treatments and body wraps that are offered.

Viceroy full-service “jungle spa” in the Riviera Maya also features a beachfront yoga studio with fitness equipment and a Maya Temazcal steam treatment cave.

Dining

La Marea, a poetic dining experience on Playa Xcalacoco, specializes in Mediterranean, Mexican and Mayan cuisines. The chef will also prepare special dishes on request.

An outdoor ancient Maya kitchen made of wooden branches with a palapa roof is available for private dining events and Maya cooking classes for a minimum party of eight. Guests learn the native cooking methods whereby meats or seafood are simmered in banana leaves deep below the earth.

Guests can also choose to dine anywhere, anytime… on the beach, poolside, or in the privacy of one’s villa. All breads and pastries are made at the resort.

Our wine cellar features 800 bottles of wine including the finest vintages from Chateau Lafite to Petrus.
